The Wall at the Day Care Centre

Hey Guys,
Today, we went back to our school project in Quito just a short drive from our hostel where we are currently staying. The school is a day care centre where parents drop their children off when they go to work and there are 120 children there throughout the day.
On the way to El Tejar (The Centre) there was a lot of traffic and it took us longer than expected this morning. When we arrived Pete´s friend who is a little boy called Yakam was watiting for him when Pete arrived at the door, this boy adores Pete so much and clings onto him throughout the day. The whole team got straight into painting the wall which is about 14 metres wide and 4 metres high in places. On the mural, the art students have designed a rainforest scene for the children of the centre to enjoy, as some of them will never get the chance to experience the rainforest as we have in La Hesperia. Everyone was really good at painting and played to their strengths, of course Florian was used for the tallest parts of the mural as we couldn´t reach that high.
Everyone worked really well together and we have almost finished the mural, tomorrow we return again to finish it and add detail. Also, tomorrow we are taking our shoe boxes to the centre. The shoe boxes were made up from the year eight tutor groups from out school and we finished them off with more presents and wrapping paper. These presents we shall give to the children tomorrow and it shall be lovely to see their faces glow.
Yesterday night, we went to the Magic Bean again for dinner (our favourite restaraunt so far) and I kept on syaing ´cheers´and so that´s my nickname now from Pele...at least it´s not one face (Pete´s), Danger Devon, Stomach Sophie or mine before Dung Bettle when I was rolling weeds in the veggie patch.

I really must remember to get the wire for my camera so I can put the photo´s up soonish, I have got some really awesome ones of us and the children..oh and of the kiss.

Speak soon :)
Love from Ecuador xxx

  2. Dear Cassie,

Are you using the mosquito net? Its been a VERY tiring week at work - in just 5 days I've been to London twice (including dinner at the Houses of Commons), Glasgow, Boscombe Down (near Stone Henge) and of course Yeovilton. Next week thankfully looks a quieter. I see your brother has at last replied! Today I took him and Charlie Martin to Goldenstones swimming pool in Yeovil for some 'fun' swimming - makes a change for Alexander. OK, hope you and the gang are still soaking up the experience and look forward to the photo's. Love Daddy

  3. Hey Alexander,
I am having an amazing time here. Yes, white water rafting was really fun although I fell out and was under the boat but then I popped up and just floated down the river, it was pretty funny in the end. No, we are having the guinea pig on Tuesday evening, we have to prepare it was well! Yes, they have a mcdonalds, pizza hut and kfc but we are not allowed to go. The food here is really good although yesterday Sophie and I were ill in the morning. Also quite a few people were alos ill, inlcuidng Joyce, Pete and Mouland. I think, I will be. Do you want those funky ecuador trouser? Search them on the internet and then reply.

    To Daddy,
Yes, using it in the jungle soon as well. You sound really busy like us. Today we delivered sandwiches to a local hospital and they were so thankful to us, it was really sad though. Sounds, like the holidays are fun. Do you know when we are going to France?
    Love xxxx
